Jane Eyre

I am reading the book Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I don't know if I will be reading it much longer though, because it is extremely boring at times. I looked up some information on Charlotte. Her life was quite depressing. Her mother died shortly after she moved with her family for her father's job. She and her two older sisters went to a boarding school that was really poor. After attending that school her two older sisters died of tuberculosis. A while after that her brother died of alcoholism and use of opium. Some time after that her two younger sisters died of turberculosis. And quite a while after that her father died. As you can see, quite depressing. Charlotte also wrote under another name, just like Stephen King. Her fake name was Currer Bell. She has written six books.

The book Jane Eyre was written a really long time ago. So it's kind of confusing/boring reading the formal way that authors used to write. The atmosphere at the moment is very dreary and depressing. Mostly because Jane gets abused regularly by her cousin. And the people that she has to live with aren't nice to her, at all. So far what has happened, considering I'm only on page 60 out of 406, is that Jane has been sent away from her Aunts. Who she was living with because her parents are dead. She went to live with her uncle because he was actually nice to her and one of her only living relatives. But he died shortly after she moved into his house. Her aunt is horrible to her, and because Jane is supposedly a bad influence to her cousins she was sent to a poor boarding school. The headmaster of the boarding school is starving them and basically letting them freeze to death to teach them a lesson... What i don't know because everyone that goes to the school is an orphan. Which i think is horrible, why would you want to punish them any further when their parents have died?! The headmaster says it's to build character and to make them appreciate what he is giving them, which isn't much.
Oh well, i hope that the book gets less boring... My friend Sydney gave it to me because i had nothing else to read but she warned me that she couldn't get through it. I hope that i can. :)
